Sustainable, non-toxic, and safe: With its NAVUTEC® WH vulcanized fiber tree-protection sleeves, Sachsenröder offers Sachsenröder optimal solution to the central challenge of reforestation projects. Unlike conventional tree-protection sleeves, these vulcanized fiber products decompose without leaving any residue after they have both protected the young seedlings and supported their growth for about five years during the growth phase.

Sustainable and free of harmful substances

NAVUTEC® WH vulcanized fiber from Sachsenröder two major advantages as a material for plant sleeves. First, it is based on renewable raw materials—in keeping with the principle: “From the forest, for the forest.” Second, it is completely biodegradable, leaving no residue. Conventional plastic grow sleeves remain in the environment for decades in the form of pollutants such as microplastics or other chemicals. This also applies to vulcanized fiber from other suppliers, in which heavy metals remain in the product after manufacturing and can thus leach into the soil and groundwater. With NAVUTEC® WH vulcanized fiber, Sachsenröder offers Sachsenröder currently unique solution for completely pollutant-free grow sleeves.

Experts in forestry

Sachsenröder its tree protection covers made of NAVUTEC® WH volcanic fiber in collaboration with the Rottenburg University of Applied Forestry to precisely meet real-world requirements. Our development work as part of the“TheForestCleanup”research project was recognized with the “Excellent Technology Transfer” award from the Reutlingen Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IHK) and Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen. To optimize the product, field tests were conducted at various test sites in four federal states, funded by the Agency for Renewable Resources (FNR). Additional funding was provided by the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture (BMEL, 2219NR423).

As part of this process, an additional non-toxic coating was developed specifically for the growth sleeves. This coating protects the sleeve from a wide range of weather conditions and is also fully biodegradable, leaving no residue.
